The Induction
Induction Day (the 23rd) came and went, without much attention being paid to it. We are pleased to say that is because our wee little babe had other plans. My last OB appt was on August 17th (37 weeks 4 days) Everything went well, I was checked for progress during my exam and it was determined I was about 90% effaced and 3-4cm dilated. I was thrilled. I had my OB do a sweep of my membranes, not really putting much stock in it, but hoping none the less that it would encourage baby to make her appearance.
That it did! Gracelyn Diane was born on August 18th @ 3:09pm. She was exactly 7lbs, had a 13" head circumference and there is some length discrepancy between the hospital and her Drs office...the hospital had her at 21.5 inches at birth, but the Drs office had her at 20.25 inches at 1 week so I left wondering how long she really was...
Anywho...she is here, and she is perfect...and if I ever get a few minutes (between a newborn and a 2 year old it's not likely) I will attempt to type up my birth story. It was fairly uneventful, not perfect but still great...I will throw out there that there was a bit of excitement as Gracey was born SUNNY side up ;) she also had a 'true knot" in her cord and it was looped once around her neck. She also spent 2 days in the NICU/Nursery for respiration then feeding issues. It's all said and done now and we are all home and happy and healthy. That is all that matters!
She is breastfeeding like a pro and at her 1 week check up had already gained any weight back that she had lost and weighed in at 7.02lbs =) That eased this mumma's worried heart. Her jaundice also seemed to be doing 'okay' and the Dr we saw, saw no cause for concern. I am hoping that it has gotten even better and again causes no concern at this next appt. (did you know that jaundice is hereditary?? and is worsened by this mumma's breastmilk??? eek) I am so anxious (curious, hopeful etc) to know what she will weigh at her 2 week appt. this coming Friday...
I think I am just rambling now...Big sister Gabby is doing amazing and is learning and loving being a big sister. Will update more soon!!! For now, enjoy some pics of the faces that light up my days (and nights)
